What a great way to roll into the summer. Get outdoors at a small festival. Loosen your limbs and groove on down for four days.
This is Circulation Festival. It is primarily a workshop-based event, focusing mostly upon circus arts, from juggling, fire performing, clowning, and acrobalance, and pretty much everything else inbetween.
All are welcome from absolute beginners to seasoned pros, even if you have never done anything like this before this is a great opportunity to learn!
This year we are happy to announce that music will be live throughout, with bands and dj’s playing regularly. We have the cream de la crop of circus instructors from New Zealand and Australia. We also have a diverse range of workshops from belly dancing and environmental sustainability to drumming, ukulele and even flax weaving! For more info check the Info page.
In addition on the Saturday we are hosting two other exciting and collaborative events – the Free Circus Show and Native Fusion, both substantial events on their own.
Circus gear for workshops will be provided as well as fuel for fire jams. And did we mention the ticket price includes food as well. This festival is a perfect way to learn some new skills before summer and to meet some colourful characters from around the country. If you’re from out of town, this is a great excuse to check out the lower South Island.
Tickets $90 + BF available from Cosmic Corner (NO gate sales)

Circulation is about playing and learning. Having a wukid time with mates. Workshops, music, partying, laughs, good kai and more workshops. Circulation is created and managed as a non-profit organisation where it is fundraised by Highly Flammable Performers through regular performances over the course of the year. Through this we continue to contribute and create something that would otherwise not be able to happen. We create, share, and grow our creative collaborations to sustain our alternative endeavors.
For us it is a way of life that flows through our veins and shines through in our artistic and collaborative passion.
From it’s roots of humble beginnings in 2003 to becoming developed and recognised throughout New Zealand as a high quality workshop and music based event, Circulation is here to stay and will continue to grow and blossom over the upcoming years. It remains true to its belief of nurturing and sustaining circus and alternative arts, as well as supporting and building the community that sustains it. We want to establish this event as a must for anyone interested in ‘alternative’ arts, be it circus based, sustainability, or music. We have a huge range of workshops to get people thinking outside the box and expanding their repertoire.
Now in 2009, we have developed Circulation to host a strong musical element, combining our talents with local and national artists to add a brilliantly new and energetic flavour to the festival. Live music will be happening throughout and headlining on the Saturday night is Native Fusion, a dance party in collaboration with the Psy Pirates crew. This party has a chunky lineup.
